A story from Between Restless Jews and Weary Arabs

A self-fulfilling prophecy

Jews are heavily indoctrinated that non-Jews are coming after them and that Israel is their ultimate refuge and that they have to protect themselves.

Jewish siege mentality is reflected outside Israel. Wherever one travels, whether in Buenos Aires, Toronto, Rome, or even Skopje (North Macedonia), one finds Jewish schools, synagogues, cultural centers, Holocaust memorials, and El Al airport travel counters almost barricaded, walled, and watched over with unusually dense CCTV and worried-looking personnel. Multi-layered security strategies and different forms of vetting are employed.

American Historian Darryl Cooper says: “If you think that everybody outside is coming to get you, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy over time.”
