A story from Between Restless Jews and Weary Arabs

Fate comes back to haunt me!

Liesel's disturbed soul – like mine – might have been rooted somewhere in her tormented past.

What remains perplexing to me still today is that 10 years following my visit to St Jérôme, Juliane called me to say that she received an unexpected letter from Alain in which he wrote: ‘The date of birth of Liesel's youngest daughter is November 5th, 1969, saying that Jad wanted to know. She just committed suicide. She had a daughter, who herself has a daughter.’

Juliane added: "Although I saw him once with you in 2013, he also asked me for my phone number and if I am still in contact with you. He is now 91 years old!"

Liesel also tried to commit suicide. Some individuals and families are stricken. The mysteries of life are always present.

Fate comes back to haunt me!
